Online Open House Experience Incentive
Running online open houses is easy if you work as a team. Learn best practices, tips and tricks here to run a successful online open house (there are key differences between a virtual and in-person open house). Now – the incentive:
Earn a $50 check written out to your club by running an online open house and submitting the reimbursement by midnight on June 24, 2020. Clubs may earn this incentive TWICE between May 1 and June 24th, for each open house that is run (for a total of $100). To receive your check, email openhouse@d57tm.org the following by midnight June 24th.

- An advertisement of your open house on social media/email to former members/all guests you’ve had in the past
- An open house agenda
- Your online guest book
- A photo/screenshot of your online open house.

Not sure what qualifies as an open house? Here’s a short definition and purpose of a Toastmasters Club Open House:
Definition:
- An event that is planned, organized, promoted and hosted by a Toastmasters Club at their regular club meeting day, time and location.
- Events that are not hosted by a Toastmasters Club, such as community events or events sponsored by other organizations, such as college career fairs, Farmers Markets, etc. do not qualify as a Toastmasters Club Open House
Purpose: there are two purposes of an Open House:
- To provide members with practice in collaboration and teamwork, building valuable skills that can be applied outside of Toastmasters as well as within the club, adding value for club members
- To grow the club by attracting new members
#d57online Incentive
Show us that your guests, members and officers can Experience #d57online Excellence and earn a $25 check for your club! Here’s how it works:
- Snap a high resolution photo or screenshot of your online club meeting. Have fun with it whether everyone claps, strikes a pose or embraces your meeting theme. Here’s an example:
- Send the high resolution photo to d57online@d57tm.org before June 1st and include*:
- Your club name
- 1-2 sentences describing why your online meetings are fun!
- The club name to whom we should make the check out to, and the address to mail the $25 check.
Note that your club photo may be used on the District 57 website, newsletter or social media accounts.
This incentive is being calculated for distribution in June 2020.
Online Thought of the Day Incentive
This incentive ended on June 9, 2020. Participants will be contacted for distribution of their award.
Spread the word! Online Toastmasters meetings are an excellent experience! Speakers can earn a $25 Amazon gift card by delivering a 1-2 minute Thought of the Day speech during your club meeting explaining how you have personally experienced excellence and benefited from online meetings in your life because of #d57online.
Here’s now:
- Deliver a 1-2 minute Thought of the Day during your online club meeting. Use this short time to explain specifically how you have benefited by participating virtually with #d57online, in your personal, professional or non-profit life *.
- Work with your meeting host to record your Thought of the Day to the Cloud. Zoom instructions on how to record can be found here, for example.
- Using your clubs personal Zoom/Webex/Teams? Email a link to the Cloud recording to d57online@d57tm.org with the name of your Thought of the Day speaker and their email address to send the gift card.
- Using the District Zoom? Send an email to d57online@d57tm.org stating your club name, day it was recorded, Thought of the Day speaker name, and the email address to send the gift card.
* A maximum of 30 gift cards are available on a first come, first serve basis. The District leadership team reserves the right to ask a member to re-record their speech to earn the incentive.
Elect to Experience Excellence Incentive
Elect your club officers and submit your club officer list to earn a Club Officer Pin Set OR a set of 7 Club Officer Name Badges, pictured below, for your incoming officers. Each is valued at approximately $60 USD.
Here’s how:
- Elect your club officers per Toastmasters International
- Have your Club Secretary submit your updated club officer list via Club Central. Your officer list must be officially recorded here by May 31st to earn this incentive.
- Purchase your club officer pin set here OR up to 7 club officer badges here with standard shipping.
- Submit the invoice to with the name the check should be written out to and address it should be sent to elections@d57tm.org.
- The reimbursement check will include shipping – for a total of approximately $74 for the club officer pin set or approximately $70 for the club officer badges.
Requests for reimbursement must be sent to elections@d57tm.org by midnight PST on June 14, 2020. There will be no extensions.
Club Newsletter Excellence Contest
This is your perfect opportunity to make sure your club has a newsletter going for all its benefits long-term, while shooting for the short-term benefits: incentives for the club and also the editor!
Submit 2 club newsletters before May 31st to club-newsletter@d57tm.org. All newsletters will be judge and the following prizes awarded:
1st Place: $100 check written out to your club
2nd Place: $75 check written out to your club
3rd Place: $50 check written out to your club
Bonus! Each newsletter editor in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will individually receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

You can’t procrastinate: Two issues of your newsletter, at a minimum, must be submitted, so you need to get cracking!
Excellence in Branding Incentive – May 1 – June 14
Still just using your old yellow banner, as seen on the right?
Toastmasters has an array of new banners to fit your meeting space once we return from online meetings (see below).
How can you get one of these smashing new banners? Easy!
- Run an online open house and email openhouse@d57tm.org by June 14 with the following:
- A photo of your current old yellow banner
- An advertisement of your open house on social media/email to former members/all guests you’ve had in the past
- An open house agenda
- Your online guest book
- A photo/screenshot of your online open house.
- Address to mail your new lectern, lectern banner, standup or pull up banner (and color, navy, yellow or burgundy)*.
* Note that we will use the most recent club name and location on Find-a-club for your new banner.

New Member Madness – extended through June 14, 2020
Earn $10 in Toastmasters.org gift certificates for every new member you sign up to join your club from March 1st to June 15th. Invite back former members and guests to experience virtual club meeting excellence in this time of social distancing.
Results will be tallied up ~June 15th automatically from the dashboards. There is no need to contact us with this information. We may reach out to confirm the address to mail the check and to whom it will be made it out.

Smedley September Drive
Earn $10 in Toastmasters.org gift certificates for every new member you sign up to join your club in the month of September. Don’t let your new member application start dates push into October to earn awards.
Results will be tallied up by the end of October and gift certificates distributed during Area Director visits and/or Toastmasters Leadership Institute’s (TLIs) in January/February.

Plan for Excellence Award
Club Officers, if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!
Earn a $20 food/beverage reimbursement by completing this simple 2 page Plan for Excellence and sending it to your Area Director before September 15th.
The free food and beverages is a great opportunity to cater your next monthly club officer meeting and to work towards your club goals and becoming Distinguished.

Cleanup your Meetup Contest – Deadline extended to 12/1!
Meetup is an online platform that invites guests from the community to visit your club! Does your club still need to get on Meetup? E-mail ashley@d57tm.org your club name to have your meetings posted.

Excellent 7 $50 Pizza Party Prize
Earn a $50 food, beverage or club supply reimbursement when all 7 of your officer roles get trained in January & February 2020. Training can be at any mix of Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI), make-up training and official training opportunities at other neighboring districts.
You’ll be contacted in March 2020 if you have earned the Excellent 7 $50 Pizza Party Prize with additional instructions to get reimbursed. Reimbursements must be submitted by May 31, 2020.

$100 Double Header Open House Incentive
Join all the clubs in our District and run TWO open houses from January 1st to March 15th. Get reimbursed up to $50 for EACH open house. Appropriate expenses can range from food, beverages, flyers, raffles for guests, prizes for the member who brings the most guests and more without dipping into your club’s bank account.
Market your club and invite former members and new guests to Experience Excellence. Running an open house is easier than riding a bike. Read our step-by-step guide to running an excellent open house at your club
To qualify for reimbursement, be prepared to submit:
- An open house flyer
- Meeting agenda
- Copy of the guest sign-in sheet
- Receipts
- Address to mail the reimbursement check
Please submit receipts, documentation and the address to openhouse@d57tm.org with the subject line, Open House Reimbursement within 60 days of your open house, by May 31, 2020.
