Mind the dust

by Jeffrey Young

The Weekly Digest made a brief mention of some big changes being worked on by the Trio this year: Incentives Tracker Overhaul.

The Trio are reducing the list of incentives that are available to be more manageable from the user side, and redesigning the tasks to be more aligned with the Toastmasters Mission and for achieving Distinguished Club status. At this time, the items and reward amounts are not yet final please wait to file recognition requests until the announcement at the top of the Incentives Tracker page reads ‘Incentives List Approved’ instead of the ‘In Progress’ status.

OTMA Criteria Overhaul

The Trio are also attempting a reimagining the Outstanding Toastmasters Award (OTMA) from the ground up. The proposed system uses a simplified task list – no more hunting for items to add up enough points in one category while having too many in another. It also has less stringent requirements (4 out of 5 categories instead of all 5, and a list of wildcard ‘can substitute for a missing item’ tasks). The intent is to make it so members can be more Outstanding without requiring you to be a District Officer to do them.

Post-Mortem: So When’s the Next Training, Exactly?

Some of you had noticed the wildly fluctuating dates in the past few Digests as we settled on training dates. There were a number of documentation errors that occurred and a calendar mishap involving Saturday versus Sunday that got propagated a couple of times. (As the Gen Alpha folks say, ‘RIP my email’). Thank you for your patience while we got this settled. By the time you read this, we’ll have gotten through July’s trainings and the calendar should be settled for August training dates.
