When I was first told about the opportunity to charter a brand-new Toastmasters Club, my anticipation for the reward was overshadowed by the daunting task ahead. As the Vice President of Public Relations in my home club, I already manage a significant workload. I initially assumed that chartering would mean juggling those existing PR duties alongside every other administrative aspect of a club, all resting on the shoulders of just three individuals. However, looking back, that was far from the case. Because this is a specialty club, it centers on something that both TM Nethaka Theverapperuma and I enjoy deeply: exploring the world of fiction through the lens of a Toastmaster. I also owe a great deal of thanks to DTM Daniel Waas for reminding us of our “why.” He has been a stellar mentor throughout this journey, guiding us through even the most minuscule of details to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Thanks to his support, we have been able to focus on what we love while engaging in the Toastmasters experience.
