A Little of This and a Little of That

Our Area D3 Toastmaster Members need your help.

Due to a miscommunication, the D3 contest was not organized and made ready for our worthy D3 Contestants. We are working on finalizing the use of meeting rooms at EBMUD in downtown Oakland, a beloved contest location from before the pandemic. We are beginning to fill roles thanks to the generosity of those members willing to grab the opportunity to not only help others, but also to gain experience and earn points toward their Outstanding Toastmaster Award.

12th St BART is just a block away, there is limited street parking and a large underground parking garage, also just a block away. We need judges, timers, and more. Please contact Sally: sally [at] d57tm . org

Our 2025 Annual Conference is just around the corner on May 17.

Bring your energy and your ideas. I look forward to seeing you there. AD Club Visits are well underway. CONGRATULATIONS to Narendra Patel, A35 Director for submitting 100% of his club visit reports by Feb 28. He earned a $25 TI Store Gift Certificate. There’s still time for you to earn a TI Store Gift Certificate. If you submit 100% of your club visits by April 30, you will have earned a $10 TI Store Gift Certificate. Visiting clubs is the best part of being an AD. Help bring your club to distinguished! How? You may ask…bring guests to your club meetings and show them the many benefits of joining to build your club’s membership to distinguished. Complete project speeches to complete levels that will help bring your club to Distinguished. Does it sound like I am changing my tune? I am NOT! Doing these things is what heightens the Toastmaster experience for all. The more speeches you give, the more you grow your skills, the more self-confidence you gain…it’s a never-ending upward spiral of excellence, which translates into Distinguished status for you and your club. As our year comes to an end, we are entering a new beginning. How will you choose to grow your Leadership skills this next year. Will you be a Club Officer? These are important Leadership roles that allow you to hone your skills and help your club grow. OR…Are you ready to take the next step by stepping up to be an Area Director. These are crucial positions dedicated to making sure that clubs have both information about what’s going on in the District and beyond AND are available to provide clubs guidance as needed. Maybe you’ve been there done that and you’re ready to set your sights on being a Division Director. Just know that:

1. you are surrounded by people willing to help; and

2. Toastmasters remains a safe place to practice your skills for use outside in your career and personal life.

Take the leap! You will never regret it.
