Outstanding Toastmaster and Outstanding Club Awards

Show Off Your Outstanding Toastmasters Skills By Earning Your OTMA

Do you find that your Toastmasters journey needs a higher bar?  Have you gotten over your stage fright from your Icebreaker and feel that you’re not being pushed enough by your evaluators? And did you know that Toastmasters is not just about speaking well, but learning leadership skills to go with it?

Then we have a challenge that was made just for you.

The Outstanding Toastmasters Award (OTMA for short) is a District 57 set of tasks that will take you outside your club, join in the wider community of the District, and help you become something more than just someone who gives excellent speeches.

This year, the OTMA has been redesigned to be less mechanics related and more relatable to more Toastmasters than those who have been serving as District Officers and instructors.  We’ve removed the math from the previous years and simplified the qualifications criteria.

There are five categories:

  • Speak –  Now less focused on completing specific levels and more about performing a number of Pathways speeches.
  • Lead – Now more about being a leader for various Area and higher events.
  • Instruct – If you enjoy teaching others, this category is for you.
  • Collaborate – Because your contributions help everyone to succeed.
  • Explore – This is where being outside your comfort zone of your club helps you be great outside of Toastmasters.

In order to qualify for your OTMA award, you’ll need to do three things in four out of the five categories. There’s also a Wildcard category, so if you find it impossible to complete that last item in another category, a Wildcard item can be used to fill in that missing item.

Complete your  OTMA award before May 31, 2026 and fill out our OTMA worksheet, and you will earn  a custom designed OTMA pin, unique to District 57.

Be The Club People Want to Join By Earning Your OCA

Do you know that your club is head and shoulders above the rest, but don’t know how to show it to the world?  Is a special achievement ribbon for your banner something that your club loves to show off?

Then District 57 has a brand new challenge for you and your fellow Toastmasters.  It’s called the Outstanding Club Award (OCA). It’s like the Outstanding Toastmasters Award (OTMA), only at the club level.

Complete any 8 items on the worksheet here and contact the Program Quality Director with your success before May 31, 2026 to win your award.

So what do you have to do to win?

Many of the items are linked with the redesigned Incentives program. In fact, if you manage to complete all of the Distinguished Club Program (DCP)  items, you’ll get your OCA to go with it.

The OCA also contains points for hosting events for the Area or higher.

For example:

  • If your club hosts the Area speech contest, you’re helping your Area Director by making their job a lot easier.
  • If your club wants to help a smaller club, holding joint meetings with that club brings some outside expertise to a smaller club and demonstrates what made you successful.
  • We’ve heard of some clubs going out into the community and staffing tables at non-Toastmasters festivals and shows, and we want to recognize you for that.

Even if your club can’t make it to Smedley Distinguished this year, you can stand apart from the other Toastmasters clubs.  There’s even a uniquely designed ribbon to hang off of your banner that no club outside of District 57 can earn.

Here’s to your continued success and well-deserved recognition! If you have any questions, contact the Program Quality Director.
