Be Safe – Northern California Fires, Evacuations and Power Shut-Offs

Good morning Toastmasters,
As many of you are aware, the Kincade Fire, driven by dry winds more than 80 mph, has resulted in the evacuation of more than 180,000 people across Sonoma County. In parallel, PG&E electricity shut-offs may affect more than 2 million people across the Bay Area. Please be safe amidst these unpredictable fires, power shut-offs and weather conditions which are now also affecting Vallejo/Crockett and the I-80.

If you are impacted by the Kincade fire, power shut-off or evacuation, please visit the Sonoma County Emergency and Preparedness Information page for more information at https://socoemergency.org/. You can also call 2-1-1 for non-emergency questions and resources, or text the keywords “SOCO DISASTER” to 898211 for updates on evacuation areas, shelter locations, power shutoffs, mental health resources and other disaster information. Call 911 only if you need immediate assistance.

We will be closely monitoring the situation and provide further resources to our friends, family members and fellow Toastmasters once the situation comes under control.

I can be reached directly by phone/SMS at 510-289-5589 or kevin@d57tm.org.

Stay safe and support each other,

Kevin Markl
