Last year, Toastmasters International made the decision to no longer hold a Fall Conference and Fall Contests. Our District Executive Committee agreed unanimously on August 11th to host the Evaluation and International Speech Contests through our January to May Spring contests. We will not be holding the Humorous or Table Topics Contest this year at the Area, Division or District levels. Watch or read below to learn more:
Why the change? A year ago, Toastmasters International concluded that countless volunteers were spending many hours organizing contests that benefited a select few rather than focusing on the overall quality of our clubs and the experience of our members.
This change presents a fantastic opportunity for us all. Instead of organizing Fall Contests, we can now focus our time and energy to grow our existing clubs, start new clubs and ensure every meeting is a fun and rewarding experience for our guests and members.
Want to still do a club contest this Fall? Go for it – just remember to also hold engaging open houses, have fun meetings, recognize the accomplishments of your members and support them to get started and reach their goals through the Pathways learning experience.
